 The Tajwid & Tarbiyah After-School Program at DarusSalam Seminary is designed to provide children with a strong foundation in Qur’anic recitation with proper tajwīd and core Islamic knowledge and values—all in a nurturing, engaging environment. This program offers an ideal opportunity for school-going children to strengthen their connection to Allah ﷻ, gain Islamic education, and build positive Muslim identities rooted in love for the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Academics

The academic structure of the Tajwid & Tarbiyah After-School Program is built on two pillars: Qur’anic proficiency and essential Islamic education. Students benefit from a tailored learning experience that meets them where they are whether they’re just beginning to read Arabic or are refining their tajwīd. Alongside this, they are immersed in Islamic teachings that help shape their character, strengthen their belief, and deepen their love for Allah ﷻ and His Messenger ﷺ.

Arrival & Opening Du‘a

Qur’an Recitation - Individual or group instruction based on level (Qāʿidah, Tajwīd, or advanced recitation)

Curriculum

Ages 6–7
  • Qur’an:

    • Introduction to Arabic alphabet and vowel sounds
    • Beginning letter recognition and letter joining (Qaʿidah)
    • Memorization of short surahs (e.g., Al-Fatihah, Al-Ikhlas)

    Islamic Studies:

    • Basic du‘as (e.g., before eating, sleeping)
    • Stories of the Prophets
    • Introduction to Islamic manners and respect for elders
Ages 8–9

Qur’an:

  • Intermediate Qaʿidah and transition into Tajwīd rules
  • Correction of common recitation errors
  • Memorization of last 10 surahs of Juz ‘Amma
Ages 10–12

Qur’an:

  • Tajwīd-focused recitation and fluency
  • Application of rules in full surahs
  • Continued memorization with revision (Juz ‘Amma focus)

Islamic Studies:

  • Understanding of Islamic beliefs (‘Aqidah basics)
  • Islamic rulings on daily life (Fiqh)
  • Hadith memorization with explanation
  • Moral discussions on responsibility, kindness, and honesty
Ages 13+

Qur’an:

  • Advanced tajwīd and fluency building
  • Recitation with correction and feedback
  • Optional Hifz portion (if applicable)

Islamic Studies:

  • Deeper understanding of Aqidah, Fiqh, and Hadith
  • Contemporary Islamic issues and youth identity
  • Character building and leadership in the community
  • Application of Seerah to modern life

We’re honored that you’re considering the Tajwid & Tarbiyah After-School Program for your child. Our admissions process is simple and open to all families interested in building their child’s Islamic knowledge, character, and Qur’anic skills.

Enrollment is open to boys (ages 7+) and girls (ages 6+). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with the academic year running from June 4, 2024 – June 3, 2025.

$150/month per student

Payment Notes

  • Includes weekly instruction and gym access
  • Textbooks & Planner: Cost varies based on class level and material.
  • Tuition can be paid monthly or upfront for the year.
